We all need to be used sometimes,
Sometimes we need to use,
Sometimes it’s hard to choose
Whether or not to be the used
Or the user.
Please don’t misunderstand,
I’m not a footnote, I don’t follow an ampersand,
I’m a person with needs
I’m a person who bleeds.
I have feelings. But sometimes
I need to leave them be
And just be used.
Make me choose
Between blacks and blues,
The dark and deep
Emotional standoff.
Burn it down or drown in it,
Turn it down or blast it?
Or use it?
Take it and use it
To fuel the fire?
I suppose I could try,
But if it’s anything like me,
If I’d try to use it,
I’d just hurt and confuse it.
